A Yosemite Afternoon

Open Studios went well and many thanks go out to all that made it by. What a rush that all is. From the last minute printing to the muffin baking, it was a busy but fruitful time and I can't wait to do it again--did I say that!

But really, after all that absorption with my existing work, I needed something fresh like those muffins. At 10am, with the car loaded for camping in 30 minutes I was on the road. The satellite maps looked to be favoring a wide area of classic California Fall high clouds and all I could think about was Fall colors in Yosemite. It could be anytime of year or type pf sky and I could be thinking Yosemite. For all the traffic and stomped meadows, Yosemite has the goods and then some. At 3pm I'm on my bike in Yosemite Valley with a nearly flat front tire and ready to shoot. The colors were wonderful--yes mostly yellow and the sky had cleared, but I felt good. The change of scene from my coast hideaway to the grandeur of classic Sierras juiced me up. I returned to the coast after sunset as it was just too cold to camp with the few blankets I had. I arrived home at 10pm and although that's a lot of driving in 12 hours, I'd do it again and again.

A sampling ...
