Locheed Fire - Another One

Last evening while taking some pictures at our local beach I noticed that familiar orange glow again. Scanning the sky led to the hills behind Davenport where a small dark plume of smoke hung low. Running back to the house with fire fears once again alive, it was a relief to see the origin seemingly far away. Or was it? This morning, after sirens blazed the night, the earth was covered with ash and even small twigs. The winds were alive last night, yet this is not classic fire weather. Not yet. This weekend brings the dry offshore winds and if this fire is not at least minimally contained, things could get very bad around these parts. Actually, they already are with our town now full of evacuees from the rural areas north and there must be at least 50 fire trucks and 100's of fire fighters staging at various local points. Listening to the helicopters, I flash on how this is my preparation day for a wedding I do this weekend near Muir Beach at the Pelican Inn. What timing. Stay tuned ...

From this AM ...
